Boat Registration / Regulations

Welcome! One of the great pleasures of living on HL2 is the boating.  Before you can operate a boat on our Private Access Lake, it is required that your water craft be registered with:

1. STATE OF NEBRASKA Boat Registration (Renewal) http://outdoornebraska.gov/boatingregistration/

2. ESCLIA / Hanson lake 2

Every motorized watercraft on the lake is required to have an HL2 sticker AND 4” lot numbers or letters on the starboard of the boat which are clearly visible. The sticker requirements ensure that we are able to identify and prevent guest boats from being operated on our water, allow us to better follow up on safety concerns and ensure compliance with state boat registration laws.

Only association members in good standing, members whose financial obligations to the Association, such as annual dues, fees, assessments, late charges, fines, etc. are paid up-to-date, will be issued a boat sticker.

ONLY THE LOT OWNER MAY REGISTER A BOAT AND THE LOT OWNER’ S NAME MUST BE ON THE BOAT REGISTRATION.

Members have 35 days to complete the registration of your water vessel with the State and the Association.  After 35 days, your boat cannot be used on the water until the registration process is fully completed. This is your responsibility.

HL2 Boat Registration Form (click here)

You will need to know the following watercraft information to complete form:
- make & year
- model
- color
- length
- state numbers (to be placed on the starboard & port sides on the bow of the boat)

If you have questions, please e-mail us at hansonlake2@gmail.com or leave a message at 402-909-1610.  Repeat this process for each water vessel on your property.

There is a $20 fee for the official HL2 sticker for each watercraft. Faded stickers will be replaced for no charge.

Absolutely no guest boats or guest personal watercraft are allowed on the lake. Violation of this regulation is subject to the trespassing laws of the state.

Only one motorized watercraft shall be operated from each lot at any time.

Boat length maximum is 20 feet, measured from tip of bow to outside of transom (below built-in swim/ski platform surface).

Pontoon boat maximum length is 30 feet. There is no horsepower limit.

Jet boats cannot exceed 12 feet in length.

No Air Boats, Houseboats or boats with enclosed cabin quarters are permitted on the lake.

All personal watercraft (jet skis, etc.) shall be restricted from operating on the lake between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending after the Labor Day weekend.

Grandfather rights prevail on all currently owned boats, properly registered with the Association by June 2002.

Boat Safety Info: Nebraska boating law allows going fast (making a wake) for 30 minutes after sunset WITH running lights on.  “Personal watercraft” (such as Jet skis) do not have any running lights and are in violation of the law if operated after official sunset. Please be very safe when operating a boat, especially in that period between sunset and 30 minutes following. After that time, the speed limit on the lake is 5 mph.

Nebraska boating law also states “No child under 13 is allowed aboard any vessel when not wearing a Coast Guard-approved life preserver except when hunting waterfowl in an anchored boat. Operators shall be held responsible.”

Nebraska law requires any boat operator born after December 31, 1985 to successfully complete a boating education course. When you pass a boating course, you will get a card or certificate that would serve as your proof of education.

High Water / No Wake: In the event of high water an effort to preserve shorelines, seawalls and for overall safety is made. Watercrafts are restricted to “No Wake” (going no faster than 5mph or producing a wake). No Wake happens when the water in the lake gets high enough to reach the red metal “T” at the east end of the lake near the drainage tubes. Please know that the HL2 board will open our water gates to the ditch for draining when the SID is able to open the water gate from the ditch to the river. Please look for “No Wake” signs posted at our 2 entrances (Platte River Drive & Annabelle Drive or Dyson Hollow & Annabelle), posted on the HL2 website, HL2 facebook page or for an email that will be sent out with a change in wake status.
